Marine Species Conservation

IUCN’s work on marine species is led by the Species Programme and the SSC Marine Conservation Sub-Committee, an advisory body within the Species Survival Commission. The Marine Conservation Sub-Committee aims to ensure that decisions taken by policy-makers and resource managers on the management of marine resources are based on sound and scientific knowledge.

  • Book:  Adrift, Tales of Ocean Fragility

"Adrift, Tales of Ocean Fragility", is a beautifully illustrated book to raise awareness about the latest issues facing marine species. It is a joint project of the Marine Conservation Sub-Committee, the Species Programme, and the Global Marine Programme. Proceeds from sales go to marine projects through the Sir Peter Scott Fund for Conservation Action.
